Feedback and context

Feedback and context

Feedback is important to reinforce the learning effect. If the learner does not answer the question correctly, the learner can see which answer is the right one and why. Context information is useful when a learner needs additional information to answer the question correctly. In this article you can find how you can add feedback and context information to your Drills.

Give feedback

It is possible to let Drillster show feedback after a wrong answer has been given. This is possible for existing Drills and newly created Drills.

The feedback information will be shown when a user has selected an incorrect answer. Drillster will show the correct answer and the feedback belonging to the question. This will reinforce the learning effect.

Feedback can be added to a Drill as follows:

  • Go to the "edit" screen of the Drill.
  • Next to the known and unknown columns, an additional column can be added. Click the orange beam “Add column” to do so.
  • Give an appropriate name to the column, for example “Feedback”.
  • Next you can adjust the name of the column and the function of the column with the blue drop-down menu. Select the option “Assign as feedback”.

  • Drillster has now changed the function of the column to feedback.
  • Feedback can be added to a question by clicking the "+"-sign.

Drillster will show the feedback when an incorrect answer has been given. Click on “This feedback is shown after an incorrect answer” and then on “Add” to add the feedback to the question.

Adding context

It is possible to let Drillster add context to the question, to clarify the question. This option is possible for both existing and new drills. The context information will be shown whenever the user sees the question to which the context belongs.

Context can be added to a Drill as follows:

  • Go to the "edit" screen of the Drill
  • Next to the known and unknown columns, an additional column can be added. Click the orange beam “Add column” to do so.
  • Assign a fitting name to the column, for example "also read:"
  • Next, you can adjust the function of the column by clicking the blue drop-down menu. Select the option “Assign as context”.

  • Drillster adjusted the function of the column. You can now add context to each question. The information in this column will be shown to clarify the question it belongs to.
  • You can add context by clicking the "+"-sign.

Drillster will now show the context with the question:

Pay attention: To save the changes made in a drill, a drill has to be released first. This can be done by clicking “Release this version” on top of the page. Once a drill version is released, the changes that are made can be seen by practicing the drill. Furthermore, you can publish it in the drill store, forward it to other users, define tests for it *, add it to groups* and more. *(if your account allows you to)
